As the year that brought with it “The Great Resignation” is drawing to a close, we were interested to get a sense of the sentiment towards new opportunities in the year. Over the course of a week, we conducted a Poll on LinkedIn to gain some insight into the digital communities’ plans for next year.
How Many are Actively on the Market?
Based on our results, 25% are actively looking to find a new role once 2022 begins.
Earlier in the year, in our Talent Sentiment Survey we asked, “How satisfied are you in your current job?”. We found that 28% were either dissatisfied or highly dissatisfied in their current role which correlates strongly with our most recent poll.
The past two years has brought with it many changes to the way we work and communicate and when there is change there is also friction. Our Talent Sentiment Survey also found that 45.45% of people felt disconnected from their team and colleagues as a direct result of remote working. This may also be a factor affecting some decisions however, there are a plethora of variables to consider and each individuals’ reasons will be unique to their situation.
How Many Are Open to New Opportunities?
Based on our results, 63% are in the passive job seekers category meaning they are not actively searching but would consider a move if approached.
This is a massive increase from the results of our Talent Sentiment Survey where only 25% said that they were open to a move for the right opportunity. This signifies a significant change (+38%) in sentiment since the summer months. Have people become more open now that the majority of the Country is fully vaccinated and restrictions have been lifted?
This is in-line with the “Wave of Attrition” that many experts have predicted and is further evidence that many people were remaining in their current roles throughout the pandemic as they didn’t want to risk twisting during such volatile and uncertain times.
But the dam will break and employee attrition is on the rise.
How Many are Not Open to New Opportunities?
Based on our results, 12% are not open to the possibility of changing jobs and are 100% committed to staying with their current organisation for 2022.
This is a significant 25.5% decrease from the results of our summer survey and is further evidence of the change in sentiment and that there will likely be a rise in attrition over the coming months.
Should you stick or twist during a pandemic?
