Operations Project Manager (FMCG)

Connexus is working with a leading wholesaler and distributor within the FMCG space.

As they continue to grow and evolve, they are about to embark on a transformative project to relocate to a new, facility in 2026. This move is a critical step in supporting their long-term growth and operational excellence.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Operations Project Manager with a strong background in project management, ideally within the FMCG sector, to lead the entire site relocation project. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the move, from sourcing a new site through to the successful setup, opening, and closure of our current facility. The ideal candidate will bring extensive project management expertise, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal disruption to current operations

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning & Execution: Develop a comprehensive project plan for the site move, including detailed timelines, budget, risk assessment, and resource allocation.
• Site Sourcing: Collaborate with senior management and real estate partners to identify, assess, and secure a new facility that meets the operational needs and strategic objectives of the business.
• Stakeholder Management: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure smooth communication, alignment, and project buy-in.
• Relocation Coordination: Oversee all aspects of the physical relocation, including logistics, inventory, and equipment moves, while minimizing operational downtime.
• Site Setup & Compliance: Ensure the new site is ready for operation, including infrastructure setup, IT systems, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
• Current Site Closure: Plan and manage the closure of the existing site, ensuring efficient disposal or transfer of assets, regulatory compliance, and final settlement of any contracts or leases.
• Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks throughout the project lifecycle to minimize disruptions and ensure project milestones are met.
• Budget Management: Monitor project expenditures and maintain budget control, reporting regularly on financial status and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
• Reporting & Documentation: Provide regular project updates to senior management, documenting all project phases and ensuring a smooth handover of knowledge to relevant teams post-move.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Project Management Certification: PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management qualification is required.
• Experience: 5+ years of project management experience, with a demonstrated track record in managing large-scale relocation or operational projects, preferably within the FMCG or wholesale/distribution sector.
• Skills: Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Able to navigate complex logistics, negotiate with stakeholders, and manage both high-level strategy and day-to-day details.
