We are now five months into 2021 and the positive impact of the vaccine rollout on the Irish Digital recruitment market is evident. There has been an unprecedented rise in the number of opportunities available across all areas of Digital. We have broken down our live roles into 4 categories and calculated what percentage of our overall roles they make up.

Pie-Chart

Marketing and Digital (54%)

In 2021 to date, 54% of our assignments have been in Marketing and Digital.

There has been a strong demand for those with specialist skills in areas such as PPC, SEO, Email and Growth. As mentioned above, while there are 19,000 individuals in Ireland with the word “Marketing” in their job title, there is a minute 104 who currently have “PPC” in and a mere 378 with “SEO”.

The skills gap is clearly apparent and this shortage of candidates is leading some employers to look overseas while others are offering improved packages to attract the top talent in Ireland.

Creative and Design (22%)

In 2021 to date, 22% of our live roles are in Creative and Design areas such as UX/UI and Developer roles.

Since the turn of the year, there has been an increase in demand for digital designers and Front End developers.

Most notably, we have seen an increase in the demand for individuals with Shopify and Shopify Plus experience as well as Full Stack and PHP Developers.

The demand for UX/UI Designers has remained consistent over the past 2 years and we are seeing no signs of that trend stopping anytime soon.

eCommerce and Product (14%)

While there was a 143% Year-on-Year increase in eCommerce roles in 2020, this year 14% of our live roles have been in eCommerce and Product.

While there are still numerous opportunities in eCommerce and Product across Ireland and these skills are highly desirable, we have found there to be a skills gap here in Ireland as there is a talent pool of 567 candidates currently working in eCommerce roles according to LinkedIn.

There is a lack of mobility in the market at the moment and candidates are hesitant to make the move during a pandemic. Remote working has been the sticking point for a number of processes and is becoming the norm for Senior eCommerce roles.

Data and Analytics (10%)

Since January, `10% of our live roles have been within Data and Analytics.

Clients are still seeking data-driven individuals who are proficient and certified in Google Analytics and capable at deriving actionable insight from datasets as well as the ability to present and communicate to non-data teams.
